Welcome!
Hello Readers!
My name is Danielle! I am a professional school counseling graduate student, and I will be graduating with my Masters in Science in Education degree in School Counseling in May 2013. As a a current school counselor intern, I fully intend to make the most of each day as I immerse myself into the world of school counseling.
I truly believe that school counseling is one of the greatest careers! I value the unique gifts that each student brings to the school system, and I am passionate about finding ways to utilize these gifts to help all students reach their goals. In addition to working directly with students, I enjoy any opportunity to develop programs, workshops, and lesson plans that address the needs of the students, parents/guardians, schools, and communities.
The purpose of this blog is to provide a space for me to organize my school counseling experiences and gain feedback and support along the way. One way to enhance my growth as a school counselor is to document my programming efforts and reflect on how I might make improvements in the future. As a new school counselor, I value the feedback and support I receive from my colleagues and other professionals in the field.
One thing I am sure of is that becoming a school counselor is a process. Though we have guidelines, there is no “how-to” manual that outlines exactly how a school counselor must be. Like the students we have the privilege to work with, every school counselor is unique and continuously learning. So, how do you grow a school counselor? Please join my on my ongoing journey to find this answer for myself.
Thanks for visiting! :)
